Prayer Letter

July 14, 2007

Dear Praying Friends,

First, please note that our highstream email account is closed and our new email address is kenandkrista@yahoo.com. The email address in the footer of this letter also works for us.

We’ve been back from our 3-½ month furlough for 2 months. Wow have these months been packed with action. The best news of all is that I was able to lead someone to the Lord for the first time in the Spanish language. Mario is a 20-year-old man with two children and no wife. This is a very typical situation here. But Mario has been watching a cousin and an uncle who come to our church. He said that he wants his life to change like their lives are changing. What a blessing! Then Krista led an 11-year-old boy to the Lord last week. Julio Caesar has been coming faithfully since we began the church in October. I’ve seen few people and no children that have been glued to the lessons and messages as intently as Julio. I believe that the Lord has chosen this young man for something special. Praise the Lord for this soul we have been praying for.

We are hoping that today we will receive permission from the city to build the security wall around our property. Once we bring any building materials onto the property we need a wall and armed guards 24/7. After we have the wall built we can start construction on the church building. We also hope that today is the “mañana” when the water department will really, for real, install the water meter so we can have water so we can begin construction.

We have begun teacher-training classes on Saturdays. What a thrill to see nine eager people hunger to learn how to reach children for Christ. It is exciting to see how God has gifted various individuals in specific ways to edify the Church. It is such a blessing to be in the middle of what God is doing in Nejepa, this poverty stricken barrio in Managua, Nicaragua.

Another class we want to begin soon will be a marriage training class. After two years here I still am amazed at how twisted thoughts are concerning God’s beautiful and wonderful gift of marriage. It is a joy to see folks begin the process of Biblically unraveling the messes that sin and ignorance has caused.

Our son Eli, his wife Rebekah, and their boys, Joel and Ethan had the opportunity to spend the month of June with us. They are seeking the Lord’s direction concerning the specific ministry that God has for them. Please pray for these tender servants of the Lord.

Thank you for your prayers, love, and support,

Ken and Krista Dowell
