November/December 2005

Happy Thanksgiving
Merry Christmas
Happy New Year 2006!

It’s hard to believe a year has already passed since we entered Vancouver Canada as first time, short term missionaries to the Asian culture. We have had a very exciting, at times frustrating, experience where God has stretched us, grown us and taught us a multitude of lessons about Him, ourselves and His Word. We are so grateful to Chinese Tabernacle Baptist Church here in Vancouver for the opportunity to have served here for this past year and have enjoyed the relationships that we have forged here.
The year 2006 holds something completely different for us. God saw fit for us to complete our internship here in Vancouver and move on...to Toronto! In the fall we began praying for God’s leadership for the next year. As we prayed, we received a call from BBFI missionaries Jarret and Jennifer Hamilton in Toronto Ontario. They had been praying for some help to start their church, Affinity Baptist Church, and had us on their minds for quite some time. God has worked everything out for us to make our way to Toronto as full-term missionaries! We are so excited about this new endeavor and all it has in store for us. We know it will mean more deputation, traveling and more lessons about God and His sovereignty. We have already scheduled several churches for the year 2006 and look forward to scheduling more.
We have already announced to our church here that we will be departing in January. While they are sad to see us go, as we are sad to leave them and this beautiful city, they know that following the Lord and His will is most important. Please pray for the teens of this church that they will be able to find a new leader quickly.

*Continue to watch our website which will  be updated soon with new Toronto information!

A great big ‘THANK YOU’ goes out to all of those who have supported us this past year, whether through prayer, finances, or both. We appreciate those of you who are able to continue your financial partnership with us and also for those who are continuing your prayer partnership. Your involvement in our ministry means the world to us and you will see great rewards in heaven!

Prayer Requests:

  • We will be approved as full-term missionaries to Toronto Ontario in May 2006. Please pray the process goes smoothly.
  • We will be driving from Vancouver to the East Coast beginning in January. Please pray for safety.
  • Nathan will be ordained sometime in March. Please pray for that process as well.
  • As mentioned, we need to continue to schedule churches. If you know of a church or your own church would like to know more about our Toronto ministry, please contact us at the information provided below.

Financial Need:
We need about $1000 to travel across the country in January 2006 for lodging, food and gas, plus about $2000 for the moving truck. If you can help in this
area, please send support to the
BBFI and label it:

Nolan’s Nook
I turned “1” on October 26.  Mommy and daddy took me to the Vancouver Aquarium where I saw all kinds of fish, whales and even a tropical rainforest!  The dolphins were my favorite; I could look inside their tank and see them swim right by me.  Mommy made me a birthday cake, but I don’t like to be messy, so mommy had to put frosting on me to take my picture!  I had lots of fun.  A lot of my teenage friends came over a few days later and got me some great gifts.  I’m going to miss them when I leave Vancouver.

I started crawling a week before my first birthday and I’m so excited that I can get around now.  I can walk a few steps by myself but it makes me nervous and I sit right down.  My favorite words are “meh” (mommy in Vietnamese), uh-oh, hi and wow.  Mommy told me all about Toronto and I’m so excited to make new friends!
