MAY - JUNE 2010
Dear Pastor and friends,
A Short Lived Life
Miguel was sixteen when I first met him. Sick, thin and weak. One of our
church members introduced me to his mom who requested prayer for his
deteriorating health. Miguel had a heart condition since he was born. The
doctors had just told the mother that he had about three weeks to live and
there was nothing more they could do for him, so they sent him home to die.
During the four weeks that Miguel remained alive I had the privilege of
leading him and his mother to the Lord.
When Miguel passed away I was asked to preach his funeral. Over 100 people
came and the gospel was preached to many that have never heard before. I
mentioned how for many this would be their final (Adios) goodbye. But if
they received Christ they would be able to say, (Hasta luego)“See you
later.” Praise God many prayed the sinner’s prayer that day and the short
lived life of Miguel was not in vain, “Though dead he yet speaks.”
After Retirement
Eduardo is a retiring school teacher looking for significance after his long
career. I met him at the bus station and invited him for coffee someday. A
few weeks passed and I called him up. We had lunch together and Eduardo
found a new reason for living when he gave his life to Christ that day.
Eduardo started coming to church. I called him recently and we met together
with a few of his colleagues. Please pray we can start discipleship together
so he can grow.
Never to Old
Marcela is a diabetic elderly lady that started coming with other new
visitors. Recently she accepted the Lord as her Savior in one of our
services. Her friend a Christian lawyer, brought me to visit her while she
was sick. We laughed and joked about all the medicines she has to take. We
read the Bible together and prayed. Then she told me that the best medicine
she has is us visiting her and her knowing Christ.
Activities and events
We’ve adopted a program called Team Kids for children's church. Now kids are
starting to invite more of their friends.
Friday nights are prayer nights along with our counselors training course.
We’ve begun parenting classes on Tuesday nights along with discipleship.
All the month of June workers have helped out with the street kids camps. In
July more camps are on the way which need your prayers.
