The Reinholds South of the BorderM E X I C OOctober 2003Dear partners in prayer, It used to be that one of the ways to make your car run better was to look at the price of a new one. Nowadays when you look at the cost of repairing a car it makes you want to consider buying a new one! This is what we are contemplating after we recently heard that our transmission will cost over 5,000 dollars. We had considered buying an extended warranty until we were told we would not be covered in Mexico. Being without a car in Mexico is one of our newer experiences but it is one that bring new opportunities. I’ve had to rely on taxis much more than in the past, but taxi rides are also excellent witnessing opportunities. I’ve been able to present the complete plan of salvation to a number of taxi drivers. One in particular happened this past week with a man named Campos. He seemed pretty self confident when we started out the ride but as we went on I discovered he was an alcoholic and it was causing problems with his wife and family. He was very receptive to God’s plan for his life. When Campos and I arrived at my house he was so interested in hearing more he asked me where we were meeting and frantically searched around in his cab to find a pen to draw a map on how to get there. He told me he has time on Sunday mornings and wants to bring his wife this Sunday to church. Pray for Campos that his life may soon be transformed before he loses his marriage and his soul to alcohol. The thought that keeps running through my mind when I get out of another taxi is that although it costs a lot to fix my car what is that compared to the price of a soul. Three out of 6 ain’t bad. Recently the national pastor and I were on our regular Friday door to door visitation. The block we chose seemed hopeless at first sight. One side was nothing but a store and a couple of abandoned houses as well as a Pentecostal family. Another side we led to the Lord a man named Ricardo. He is a separated man living with his two daughters. We then aproached one proud Mexican Chinaman. While rounding the third side we met our first Baptist from another church. Finally on our last side and our last house we encountered a lady who seemed fairly sure of her philosophy of life and was determined not to ask anything from God. Her name was Maria. Maria was a lady who was abandoned by her mom as a child. She blamed herself for surviving her childhood instead of one of her brothers who did not. During her conversation with us it seemed like Maria was working through her problem. At one point she broke down and cried. After much time and invitations to accept Christ we determined that all the more we could do was to close in a word of prayer and go. I stood up and asked if we could have a quick word of prayer with her before we left. Right then Maria made up her mind and decided to accept Christ into her heart. We led her and her 22 year old daughter Karen to Christ at our last house on the block. Please pray for these ladies. Prayer needs: Steve’s herniated disc., Nationals willing to make commitments for Christ, church building program, Ladies Bible study, discipleship for new believers.

In the Potters Hand,
What’s more important costs or value.
What we do with what we have is more important than what we have.
This past month we’ve made a few investments that have costed us
time and money, but are high in value. The following are just a
few examples of these investments divided in terms of cost and value.
We ask your prayers and participation in any of these valuable projects.
