August 2012 Prayer Letter

Dear Friends In Christ:

Last month in our letter we informed you of a great opportunity to purchase a 400 square meter lot for the New Mission of First BBF church in Reynosa. It is true that the new mission is going great. Also their desire is to have a permanent facility in which to worship. They are presently worshiping in a private home. They were offered what sounded like a great opportunity, being able to buy property over a period of time and with hopes of being able to build a church. ALL THIS HAS COME TO NAUGHT! The deal has fallen through! No property! Thank each of you who have sent toward this project. We will refund to you who have sent.

Our hearts were filled with joy as we read the article in the TRIBUNE for June 2012. Bro. Mike Marcellus, pastor of the First Independent Baptist Church of Austin Texas is very involved with the South Texas Hispanic Churches. Mike spent THREE full summers working as a teen in our Youth Camp in Monterrey, and has visited many other times over the years. Three of the Spanish pastors that are in the Texas Hispanic Fellowship are from our ministry in Monterrey before they came as “missionaries” from Mexico to the USA. Juan Padilla studied for the ministry and was pastor in Monterrey for several years. He is also the grandson of LUPE GUTIERREZ who pastored in Saltillo for over 60 years. Miguel Carreon and Angel De Leon were also pastors in Monterrey. There are several other “missionaries” from the Mexican ministry working in the USA to reach the Spanish-speaking people.

The first month of DVBS (July) has been completed in the churches of Mexico. Since the Mexican schools have vacations in July and part of August we do not have any totals of the VBS results but we will report on all the results in our September letter. Thank each and every one of you who have helped us financially and each of you who have prayed for the salvation of those boys and girls who have attended and those who have made a profession of faith in our Lord. Some of the churches have reported and the results are encouraging.

Beloved we want to thank you for your faithfulness in prayer and financial help toward our ministry of 56 years. Pray that God would give us more years to serve Him.

Yours for souls in Mexico,
Lonnie & Margie Smith
