Prayer Letter

November/December 2009

Dear Friends,

By the time you receive this letter we will have finished another year in Belize. As we look back over the last 12 months it is amazing what God has done. We have built new buildings, started a new work, and have seen tremendous church growth. But most important, we have seen 33 people in 2009 come to know Christ as their Savior, and twenty-five baptized.

I had a Christmas party with my youth and had 56 in attendance. We played several games and their favorite was bobbing for apples. It is amazing to see how far the teens have come. A few of them even broke out of their comfort zone and participated in a skit for the Christmas program.

We have been working hard to complete the roof on our new auditorium. Pastor Ismael had been working high on the gable end when he lost his balance and fell. He dropped 20 feet to the cement below. Besides being shook up he was actually ok, other than scrapes, bruises and a broken toe. His guardian angels were doing some over time that day! Praise the Lord for His careful watch over his own.

Arriving in Arenal, Sunday morning, we noticed a crowd at the cemetery down by the river. One of the ladies that attended our services came running towards our vehicle waving her arms. “Mr. Dan, Mr. Dan… Ms. Martha has died.” I could not believe what I was hearing. Ms. Martha, an elderly woman, was one of the first ladies to accept Christ in Arenal. That Friday she had been having pains in her chest and told her family, “Please, someone get in touch with Mr. Dan. I don’t have long and I want to talk with my pastor, Mr. Dan.” Martha passed away that night and I did not know until I arrived Sunday morning. It broke my heart to know she wanted to see me that night, but no one reached me. But I will see her again… someday. Because we had taken the Gospel into that distant bush village… this one is in heaven today.

Thank you all for a very blessed year. We know we could not do what God has called us to do … without you.

All for Him,
