Prayer Letter

January/February 2010

Dear Friends,

Vicki and I have been on the field now for eight years. We never dreamed that God would actually move us into a remote jungle village to plant a church. This transition in our lives came with a lot of adjustments, but never any regrets. The work is sometimes exhausting ... but always exciting. It is such a thrill to be a part of what God is doing here. We have seen so many people trust Christ. So many lives changed for all eternity. But the greatest thrill has been the opportunity to see time and time again just how big and faithful our God is in meeting our needs.

About a year ago, I was introduced to a man thjat was working with a team of doctors in one of the local villages. I simply asked him if he had a dentist omn the team. Vicki and I had been asking God for some time to send a dentist to our village. A few months later, the man visited the Valley to look it over to assess the need. He met with me and sadly told me that the village was just too big... the need was too great. "We would never be able to pull it off," he said. I'll mention it to the board... but they will never go for it." There was just not enough man power to do the job. A couple of months later, he called me and said, "You won't believe it. The Medical Board had called and said that they had never seen so many doctors respond to a challenges so fast as this one. An entire team of dentists is coming!" They needed a large facility to do the work, so we hurried and got the roof on our new building just in time. I wish you could have seen it. Last week, a team of 30 medical personnel arrived here. We had eight dentists, including an oral surgeon, a medical doctor and a whole bunch of nurses and assistants. Every school-age child in our village (over 700) was seen by a dentist. Teeth were checked and cleaned. Cavities were filled and bad teeth removed. The surgeon was pulling over 120 teeth per day. In just four days, over 1,000 villagers saw a dentist, and over 250 others were treated by the medical doctor. Bibles were given out and the Gospel was proclaimed. And once again, I stand amazed at how big and faithful our God truly is.

We are so thankful for each of you that pray for us and contribute financially to our ministry. Thank you for helping us to stay here on the field. We could never do what God has called us to do ... without you.

All for Him,
