Prayer Letter

March/April 2009

Dear Friends,

What a way to start off the year. We have had several people accept Christ in our first quarter of 2009. Many people were asking, “Mr. Dan, when can we go to the river?” What they were meaning by this was, “When can we go to the river to be baptized?” So we planned the big day. We loaded up our busses from the church and went to the river. Upon arrival, we had our baptismal service. It was so exciting seeing 11 baptized from ages 8 to 35 years of age. When we finished with the baptisms, the people enjoyed the cool river waters while we roasted hot dogs for a picnic.

Alfredo Vasquez, a man in our church was recently baptized. His wife, Patricia, is a very devoted Catholic, and came to see him baptized. Her face lit up and she clapped when he came out of the water. She is so happy how her husband has changed. God has removed his craving for alcohol and drugs. This is a big step for her to come to our service. If you remember, we asked you to pray for Patricia in our Sept/Oct prayer letter. Thursday night at services, Harvey, Alfredo’s oldest son raised his hand for salvation. He told his mother that night after church, “Mr. Dan will be coming by to talk to me this week about salvation, and I want to be baptized too.” She quickly spoke up and told him he was already baptized at the Catholic Church. He said, “No Ma, I want to be baptized like Jesus.” God is working in this family’s life. This is what it’s all about. Thank you for your prayers.

Last year as many of you know, my wife and I both had surgeries in the states. Just a quick update on how we are doing. Vicki’s back is doing well. As long as she doesn’t lift heavy objects or twist her back she does well. She also has to limit her travels out of the Valley as well. My shoulder is improving. I haven’t regained all of my range of motion but it has greatly improved. I can shovel sand and gravel and work with my men. Next to sharing Christ, this is what I live for. The rainy season is over, the heat is on, dust is in the air, and so the construction begins. We only have about 12 weeks to do all the construction that needs to be done before the rains return.

We are grateful for all you do for us and the people of Belize. We know we could not do what God has called us to do… without you.

All for Him,
