Our Righteous Rights

When we worked on the Navajo Reservation, there was a lady in our church that worked for the tribe in the school system. Her job was to teach the students their rights as members of the Navajo Nation. As citizens of the United States we have our Bill of Rights. There are other personal rights we have: in the work place, in our schools, in our healthcare system and so forth. Rights mean privileges, guarantees or promises.
There are also rights for the righteous--the righteous being believers in Christ, citizens of Heaven. The rights of the righteous are found in the Bible. Here are some of them:

  1. We have the privilege of God’s favor and protection. Psalm 5:12

  2. We have the right to God’s deliverance from all our troubles. Psalm 34:17

  3. God guarantees that we won’t go hungry. Psalm 37:25

  4. Our salvation is guaranteed as well as God’s strength in time of trouble. Psalm 37:39

  5. God promises us rewards for our righteousness. Psalm 58:11

  6. We have the promise of God’s love. Psalm 146:8

  7. We have the right to sound wisdom that he has available to us.
    Proverbs 2:7

  8. We have the privilege of our desires being granted. Proverbs 10:24

  9. We have the promise of our prayers being heard. Proverbs 15:29

  10. We are guaranteed eternal life. Matthew 25:46

Are you aware of all your rights as an American citizen? Me neither.  There may also be rights and privileges that you are guaranteed as a citizen of the Kingdom of God that you aren’t aware of or at least need to be reminded of from time to time. There are many more that the ten listed here. Look for them as you read your Bible and claim you rights!
