October 2011 Prayer Letter

Dear Friends In Christ:

In Monterrey Mexico there is a very exclusive, expensive buffet style restaurant called “CASINO ROYAL”. This month (September) a group of people entered this café to rob, kill and burn. FIFTY-THREE people died in the confrontation. In June 2006 thirty-five pastors of Monterrey and Northern Mexico reserved a private room there to honor us on our 50th anniversary in Mexico. It was truly a great celebration as we had won most of the men or their wives to the Lord. Praise God no pastor or member was involved in the 53 deaths.

Bro. Angel Zapata, pastor of the First BB Church in Reynosa, president of the Border BBF of Mexico and in charge of distribution of all literatures we print or provide to the churches of Mexico has given us a final total of the number of souls saved through DVBS in 2011. Over 3200 souls made a profession of faith in Christ. Thank each of you again for making this possible through your prayers and financial support.

Bro. Angel needs a 15-passenger van for his work in Reynosa and surrounding area. To be able to pay duty on a vehicle, it must be at least 10 years old. If you would like to donate a 2001 or 2002 van to this worthy cause, please let me know and we will make arrangement to bring it to him and his church.

Marvin Hooge has been very sick since August 15 when a malignant tumor was discovered in his esophagus. Before chemo could start, his kidneys failed. He has been in and out of hospital ever since. We are happy to report that he is home at this time. He is on dialysis three times a week. Since chemo can not be used, he is having radiation 5 times a week. The good news, the tumor has shrunk with these treatments. He and Rosalie still need your prayers.

Beloved we are ever mindful of your sacrifices on our behalf. We do so appreciate your prayers and your financial help that enables us to continue to labor here in Old Mexico. God has seen fit to continue to use us and we are grateful to serve.

Yours for souls in Mexico,
Lonnie & Margie Smith
